Shining Rae: Shining Rae, born Shannin Rae Watkins, defines music as an extension of her soul that she plans on sharing with the world. With influences such as Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, and Anita Baker, Shining Rae writes music that simply makes you feel empowered. Her distinctive voice is sultry, yet smooth and angelic. Her versatility adds flavor to any genre of music, specifically R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz. Although she lives a “double life,” working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Johns Hopkins Hospital during the day and singing/performing around Baltimore at night, she devotes all of her free time to her music. When asked how she deals with the stress of working in a medical profession Shining Rae credits music as her “therapy.” Now that she has developed her talent and signature style as an artist and songwriter, she is ready to take her artistry to the next level and develop a true music career. Her ultimate goals are to “shine” as a multi-faceted Singer/songwriter/musician, make music that is timeless, and represent longevity and ambition in today’s music industry.
